Scouts District Hike Competition

On Saturday 15th October, our scout section took part int he District Hike Competition. Before setting out part of the competition, was to calculate their route from Wrotham to Shoreham, through designated checkpoints.

The team compromised of four scouts, all of whom are fairly new to the section. In the short they have been with the scout section they have quickly developed basic navigation skills, in map reading, grid references, and using a compass. Our team set out, and passed their way through past the half way point, before the competition came to end.

Considering that the team were up against some seasoned hikers, and they were fairly new to navigation, the scouts finished in a very credible sixth place.

We were very proud of their efforts.
